Don't forget that May is the second annual National Youth Traffic Safety Month (NYTSM), sponsored by the National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS). As a member of NOYS, SADD encourages all chapters to conduct traffic safety activities during May. We've told you about various components of the month in past issues of The SADDvocate, and this month there's one more we want to share with you.

First, here's a reminder that NOYS will offer 50 $1,000 awards for the best NYTSM activities. Last year, 15 SADD chapters were recipients of a $1,000 award, and we're hoping for even more this year! All you need to do is register your activity on the NYTSM website, and you're eligible for an award.

Hi, everyone –

At the state conference, a lot of you were able to see the powerful “tk cr b4 2 l8” (Take Care Before it’s Too Late) video. The Department of Transportation has finally signed off on both the video and the associated Transitions lesson. The lesson is attached, and we will begin sending copies of the video to all of our active chapters tomorrow. Remember that this lesson is specifically designed for 8th grade pre-drivers, and is intended to be facilitated by high school SADD students. It comes with a simple one-page pre and post test which is very important.
