What SADD Means to Me
What does SADD mean to me? It’s not my first time answering this question, but each time I am asked, I find a new way to answer. SADD is more than an organization of students who are against making harmful decisions, personally and for our peers. To me, SADD is a group of people that I can trust. It’s a group of people that are there to help me with anything I’m struggling with. In SADD, I have met lifelong friends and mentors. I could not imagine my world without my SADD family. I know that everyone in SADD has his or her own story and reasons for being involved, and I think it’s so cool. There is a strong sense of community where no one judges you for your past. If you make a mistake, they are there to help. I want all students to be a part of SADD; it has something for everyone.
As the next Student of the Year, I have many plans. I want to get the word out about the importance of having strong self-esteem. Having struggled with this problem myself, I know it is an issue on the rise for students. We need to shine a brighter light on the problem and help those who are struggling. SADD can create a community to share our experiences and help those who are in need.
I’m sure that as the year goes on, we’ll get to know each other better, and I know that you’ll be hearing from me often. Have a wonderful day and remember YOU are worth it!
Signing off,
Abby Stogner
