2008 National SADD Conference: Revisited

Well, it has been almost a week since the 2008 National SADD Conference ended, and I'm still getting caught up on work that I got behind on due to the trip. Not that I'm complaining, but there's just an absurd amount of work that needs to be done!

This is going to be an ongoing revisitation, just so you know. I'll bump this back to the top of the front page whenever I update it.

So, I did something like this for the 2004 National SADD Conference in St. Louis (with subsequent pages 2, 4, and 5; Not sure what happened to page 3). It was fun keeping a running journal of the days activities back then; sadly, I was short on time and unable to do something similar for this conference.

But, I like to think I have a fairly photographic mind, so hopefully a lot of these memories wash back over me.

New Logos

For those who may not have noticed (though, if you have perused the website at all in the past month, it'd be tough to miss), we have updated the Northern Lights SADD logo for all future uses!

Out with the old:

In with the new:

New Minimum Age for Blood Donors in Minnesota

For those who are interested in donating blood, a quick note: The minimum age for blood donors in Minnesota is now 16 (down from 17). Sixteen and seventeen year-olds must still have parental permission to donate blood.

Also in MN, the price to renew a driver's license, permit, ID card, vehicle tags and title registration has gone up by $1.75, as well, so bring an extra couple of dollars along if you have to renew any of these forms of identification.

Firework Safety

Well, Lee and I are sitting in the terminal of the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport, waiting for our flight, and I remembered that it's the first day to legally purchase fireworks in ND (among other states).

Now, I am a huge fan of fireworks and I love Independence Day, but I've been injured from fireworks more than once, and I know how easily it can happen. I figured it would be a good idea to post a link to a website that encourages fireworks safety and gives some simple tips on what to remember during the next week.

Check it out at http://www.fireworksafety.com.

Keep checking out www.nlsadd.com in the near future for the start of our Northern Lights SADD podcasts and youtube videos! Also, I'll release our logos in the next couple of days for people to check out and get familiar with.

Greetings from Arizona!

Myself and coordinators Lee and Katie are both in Phoenix, AZ, right now for the 2009 National SADD Conference. We're having a great time and we're bringing back a lot of ideas and contacts from the conference.

I'm just checking in while there's a little bit of downtime, but I'll make sure to have a complete conference wrap-up posted here once the conference is completed. Until then, I'll be continuing to take photos and video for the slideshow.

Take care and I'll update soon!
